Zoho enters ‘booming’ e-learning space with TrainerCentral

Zoho Corp. launched TrainerCentral to offer a collaborative e-learning platform to tap into the booming e-learning market, Aarthi Elizabeth, chief brand evangelist at the new business division, told ET.

Zoho, headquartered in Chennai, is the parent company of technology brands such as ManageEngine, Zoho and Qntrl, and now TrainerCentral which will provide knowledge creators, independent entrepreneurs and experts in all fields with a single platform to host live sessions and sell on-demand courses. , assess students, create a community of engaged learners, and manage their business.

Due to the large number of internet users in India, in particular, there are around 100 creators on average entering the market almost every day. In fact, according to research, at any given point in time, there are about 15 million creators, and only 2 million of them are actually making money.”

She said there were 95% more opportunities that TrainerCentral wanted to exploit. She added that while there are tools in the market, there is a huge gap as small independent contractors or small training companies end up depending on big players, like Coursera or Udemy to launch their business.

Going forward, she said TrainerCentral would consider entering the enterprise segment, but as of now the focus is entirely on small individual trainers and training companies. The platform is available in Hindi and Tamil, as well as English, and will soon support other regional languages.

“We are working very hard in terms of native languages ​​and to be able to reach even small niche teachers and trainers. The product is already available in 11 international languages, including French and German,” Elizabeth said. With Tamil and Hindi, the finishing touches are in progress, but it is already available in both languages. We plan to add Marathi, Bengali, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam over the next year.”

TrainerCentral users can create pre-recorded online classes while hosting live workshops and online coaching sessions for up to 1,000 remote learners using web conferencing functionality. Using a drag-and-drop, no-code generator, trainers can design an intuitive website with a custom URL, to publish and sell courses online. They can set up a payment gateway, set up different payment methods like one-time fee or recurring subscription and also accept payment in any currency.

“So far, the maximum number of customers we have come from the United States,” she said. “But at the moment we are not doing a global launch, we want to launch in India first because we think it is a good market to tap into. Apart from India and the United States, we are planning to target Europe, the UK and Australia. . That’s where we’re seeing the most traction.”

TrainerCentral will also be looking to launch its mobile app in February 2022. The app will be a completely free app that a trainer can rename according to their needs, Elizabeth said.

TrainerCentral is available immediately and offers a 15-day free trial. It offers two paid plans with access to unlimited courses and unlimited learners: Starter (Rs 1167 per month billed annually) and Professional (Rs 2917 per month billed annually).
