Bac Giang (VNA) – The northern province of Bac Giang will pay attention to the development of e-commerce, the expansion of markets for agricultural products, especially the most typical ones, according to the deputy director of the provincial department of Industry and Commerce Pham Cong Toan.

During 2022 – 2025, Bac Giang Province will intensify information dissemination to sensitize state e-commerce management officials on e-commerce laws; organize training courses on e-commerce for companies, cooperatives and individuals; facilitating access to technology and digital transformation in production and sales.

Bac Giang has also improved the state’s management capacity in e-commerce, actively developed solutions to support the sale of major local agricultural products through digital platformsand carefully prepare the conditions for organizing lychee consumption promotion activities in 2022.

In addition, the province has improved its capacity to manage and organize e-commerce activities, fight against commercial fraud and infringement of intellectual property rights and unfair competition; and made efforts to expand markets and increase consumer confidence in e-commerce, Toan said.

According to the official, in the coming times, Bac Giang will also promote e-commerce application to support major export industries, expand the sale of key and typical products of the province through the application of new technologies; facilitate digital transformation companies by helping them and cooperatives to join the main national and foreign e-commerce platforms.

He proposed that the Ministry of Industry and Commerce and the Ministry of Information and Communications should help the province to promote the construction and development of information technology and telecommunications infrastructure in order to meet the development requirements of e-commerce; help it to connect and cooperate with the main platforms to consume its key and typical products; and help train government officials, civil servants, businesses and cooperatives to raise awareness of international economic integration laws and commitments on e-commerce.

In 2021, the COVID-19 pandemic severely affected Bac Giang province’s traditional business activities, distribution and export of agricultural products. Therefore, selling agricultural products in general and lychee in particular on e-commerce platforms is considered as one of the important and effective solutions.

Bac Giang had a good lychee harvest in terms of yield, quality and consumer market. The provincial Ministry of Industry and Commerce took the initiative to establish a distribution channel, researched and expanded markets through online channels to promote and sell lychee on national e-commerce platforms such as: Voso.vn, Postmart.vn, Sendo.vn, San24h.vn, Shopee.vn, Lazada.vn… and the international platform Alibaba.com.

As a result, it was the first time that Bac Giang sold more than 8,000 tons of lychee on e-commerce platforms, of which more than 8 tons were exported to European countries through cross-border platforms.

In addition, Bac Giang successfully held an online conference to promote the sale of orange, pomelo, custard apple, pork, chicken and other key local products. During this conference, representatives of the provincial ministry of industry and commerce, the people’s committee of Luc Ngan district and four national e-commerce platforms, namely Voso.vn, Postmart.vn, Sendo.vn and Shopee.vn, have signed a cooperation agreement on the sale of these products.

Last year, the department supported 15 enterprises and cooperatives in the production and sale of lychee to build an online brand identity package including a website, email, Facebook fan page and landing page.

Stalls displaying and selling the products of the province are established on various e-commerce platforms, namely Voso.vn, Postmart.vn, Sendo.vn, San24h.vn, Shopee.vn, Lazada.vn.

In particular, the Ministry of Industry and Commerce of Bac Giang Province supported a local company to participate in the international e-commerce platform Alibaba.com. It first saw customer visits in countries like the UK, France, Australia, the Netherlands and Germany./.
